Description
A crisp, foggy morning filled with the scent of ripening lemons and wild plums, flowering hyacinths and trees growing on rocks that are seemingly suspended in the air. That’s the landscape that opens before us with specific notes of the MONASTERY scented candle. The landscape of one of Europe’s most mystic places, the Meteora in Greece, so monumental sandstone structures rising up to 500 metres above the sea level that look as if they were suspended in the air. No wonder those seeking space for contemplation and connection with the absolute, hermits and monks have settled in such surroundings. The stories of first orthodox monasteries in the area dates back to the Middle Ages. It wasn’t until centuries later, however, that anyone apart from monks would set their foot there.
The MONASTERY candle is an attempt to capture the unique atmosphere of this place. What’s interesting, though the composition comprises as many as 14 various fragrance notes, one will not find here scents traditionally linked to church, such as myrrha, incense, or gold. Instead, dominant are notes that resonate with the nature surrounding the monasteries, for it’s the outdoors that emanate spiritual energy and encourages to enter into dialogue with the personal understanding of spirituality. The visual design of the candle refers to the culture of the Orthodox wing of the church. Jerzy Nowosielski’s art and his incredible iconostases were one of the inspiration.
Using wax melts
To use wax melts, you need a wax warmer to heat it up. The wax is placed in heater's bowl and an unscented tea light is set underneath. As it heats up, the wax melts and becomes liquid. Remove wax from the bowl once the fragrance is gone. You can do it the “hot” way, so pour warm wax into a bowl with cold water or the “cold” way, gently pop the hardened wax out using a toothpick or place the warmer in a freezer for about 10 minutes. Once removed, you can easily discard the wax.
The time of heating up the wax depends on the selected tea light. I recommend choosing those that burn for about 3-4 hours. If you want to enjoy the beautiful fragrance again, just replace and lit up a new tea light.
Safety
A wax warmer should always be placed in a safe, temperature-resistant place. Keep it away from flammable materials such as furniture and curtains and sources of heat, such as radiators and TVs. It’s important to place the warmer away from drought and never leave the burning candle unattended. Remember that it is not recommended to move wax warmer when it’s being heated by a candle. To ensure safety, keep it out of the reach of children and animals.
